New Bern Business Owner will speak at her Alma Mater to Encourage other Women to Follow Their Dreams

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 23, 2012 - On Saturday March 17, 2012 girls and women of all ages in the Greensboro, NC area will attend the “Year of You!” Women’s Conference at High Point University (HPU) to hear five dynamic women speak about their experiences in following their hearts. The Black Cultural Awareness (BCA) of the college is hosting this conference for Women's Month.

“I am so excited to come back to High Point University and work with the BCA again! This is where I started!” said Dowe. “This conference allows me to address other likeminded females to help them understand that their dreams can be realized with hard work and resilience!"

Ms. Dowe, has over 10 years experience in event planning and leadership development. Monica has a Master’s degree from East Carolina University in Recreation and Leisure Services Administration. Monica has successfully managed large scale festivals and galas for the non-profit sector; social events; company award ceremonies and leadership conferences. Monica founded, I’m With Them Events, LLC, because she strongly believes events have the power to change and improve relationships. When groups come together for an event—no matter how the event or group is defined—it promotes unity and camaraderie. This conference will also feature three other HPU alumni: Shannon Moxley-Jones (author/caterer), LaTasha Blanton (Physical Therapist) and Jasheena Shelton (Life Coach/Minister). Shelton has a life coaching program in which the event is named. Candice Walton is the only speaker who did not graduate from HPU. She is an University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill alum. Not only is Ms. Dowe one of the women to speak, her topic is titled "Sacrifice comes before Success",  but her company I'm With Them Events, LLC is the title sponsor.

The conference will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at High Point University, in the Smith Library Lower Level Conference Room from 11:30 am-3:30 pm. For HPU students the cost to attend is $ 5.00; other college or high school students will be admitted for $10.00; and for all non-students the cost to register will be $15.00.
