A simple way to pair great food and great wine !

There is more than specialty foods and wine to be sampled at Napa Style this March. The original ‘Cajn Critter,’ Pamela D. Lyles is making her way to Napa Valley from New Orleans to showcase her award-winning cookbook, Da Cajn Critter: The Lifestyles, The Rules, and Makin’ Groceries. Lyles will be on hand signing cookbooks as well as sampling some or her delectable dishes on Saturday, March 10th from 2 – 4 PM at Michael Chiarello’s Napa Style, 6525 Washington St., Yountville, CA., (707) 945-1229.

If you are not familiar with Da Cajn Critter Cookbook, then you are in for a special treat! Lyles is a New Orleans native who has spent a great deal of time in the Napa/Sonoma area over the last 28 years. The idea for her cookbook has been a long time development, but it took the tragedy and chaos of Hurricane Katrina to afford her the time and resolve to self-publish this wonderful compilation of user-friendly recipes. Since hitting the shelves in November 2008, Lyles has made it her mission to enlighten the rest of the world on the joie de vivre of life in New Orleans: the food, the lifestyle, and the art of “makin’ groceries.”

Da Cajn Critter won the 2008 U.S. Best Book Award's Home Entertaining category. This cookbook is full of recipes for authentic New Orleans cuisine, from Mardi Gras Pork Roast, to Red Beans and Rice, to Oyster Artichoke Soup. Jon Emmerich, winemaker for over 20 years at Silverado Vineyards, worked with Pam to develop a user-friendly food and wine pairing chart that is featured in the Lagniappe Section of Da Cajn Critter. More than standard Louisiana fare, Lyles has included many family recipes that her ancestors have perfected and passed down for generations, including Mama Bea’s Salted Pecans, Uncle Alan’s After-Thanksgiving Gumbo, Aunt Rhonda’s Jambalaya, and Aunt Norma’s Buttermilk Pound Cake.

Pamela D. Lyles will be available in Napa Valley from March 5 – 10, 2012 for interviews about Da Cajn Critter Cookbook, and can be contacted either by phone or e-mail. More information on Pamela D. Lyles and Da Cajn Critter Cookbook is available at www.dacajncritter.com.
