Illume Brightens up New York's Design District!

New York City, February 2012 – There is a new-fashioned place in town for exclusive, custom and ready-made lampshades called Illume New York. With its dual-entrance, this white lacquered exterior, Parisian inspired lampshade gallery/boutique is located at 223 East 58th Street in the heart of the NYC Design District just steps away from the D&D building.
 
Illume offers a wide variety of custom, hand-sewn shades, crafted from imported Italian and Chinese silks and designer fabrics, and card shades in modern and classic proportion. This wide and well-edited collection inspired by European trends is imported from Paris, Amsterdam and Quebec, readymade and in stock for decorators, designers and anyone looking for the finest quality shades. Illume is also a custom- house and will provide most any and every shade need for their decorating clientele including their own material and fabrics.
 
Illume’s inspiration is based on the boutique shops of a bye-gone era where hand made goods of the finest materials are constructed by artisans and crafts people and offered for sale by a knowledgeable and friendly sales staff. Illumé is the third collaboration of partners Ronald Scinto and Mark Candido. Together they created The Antique & Artisan Center in Stamford CT, which now sits at the center of Stamford’s sprawling “Antiques Alley” Their second collaboration is The Accessory Store, located in the “Antiques Alley” this “decorators hardware store” has become a favorite stop among decorators for lampshades and home accessories. Both of these stores have been featured in Architectural Digest, on television and in numerous national publications.
 
“After two decades in business, we’ve realized our customers, both trade and retail, don’t like to wait 12 weeks for a custom lampshade. At Illumé our clients will be able to walk in the door with their lamp and with and our wide inventory and expertise walk out the same day with a shade that’s beyond their expectations.” says Ronald Scinto. ‘This is not your ordinary lampshade store.  We can even rewire your lamp on the spot.”  Added Mark Candido.  “You will see our craftsmen and artisans busy on our work benches as you pass by our front window”.
 
 
In addition to their large collection of stock lampshades, Illume also offers a complete repair shop that can custom mount, repair, and rewire most any lightning fixture including vintage and antique chandeliers. A decorator will find nearly every hard to find item needed for their installation including canopy, decorative chain, plate stands, picture hooks and other hardware items.
