PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 22, 2012 - The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization established by a shared private-public vision to improve mission-critical information sharing in justice, public safety, and homeland security, announces the appointment of Mr. Steve Ambrosini as executive director.  Prior to his appointment, Mr. Ambrosini had served as the Institute’s director of operations, and most recently assumed a role of interim executive director following the resignation of former executive director Mr. Glenn Archer, who is returning to the private sector.

Mr. Ambrosini’s appointment brings with it many benefits, including his five years of experience as its director of operations, his deep commitment to the IJIS Institute mission, and his contributions to the many significant programs and technology services the IJIS Institute provides to the national information sharing community.  Mr. Ambrosini will be supported in his new role by the IJIS Institute’s experienced team of professionals, including executive director emeritus Paul Wormeli, who will continue to work with the Institute and Mr. Ambrosini to provide continuity of purpose.

Matthew A. D’Alessandro, IJIS Institute Board of Directors President, noted, “The IJIS Institute is fortunate to continue benefitting from Steve’s experience, expertise and leadership skills.  His long tenure with the Institute, our partner community, as well as our key stakeholders, is already paying dividends in enabling the organization to move forward unimpeded.”

In his role as director of operations for the IJIS Institute, Mr. Ambrosini was responsible for the operational execution of the Institute’s mission, including oversight of programs and services designed to help government and industry develop improved methods for sharing information.  Most recently, he has been responsible for successfully spearheading the Institute’s Springboard Initiative.  Prior to joining the Institute, he compiled a thirty-year career in the field of information technology and system integration, providing professional technology services to clients in the public safety and criminal justice sectors.

In concert with this appointment, Mr. Ashwini Jarral, who previously served as assistant director of technology services, will be promoted to the new position of director of program and technology services.  Mr. Jarral managed technology assistance, training, and technical support for national initiatives, including the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) standard.  He also hired, trained, and supervised technical staff supporting private sector and government agencies in the use of the Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM) and NIEM. Mr. Jarral, a Six Sigma Green Belt Certified Professional, holds a B.S. in Decision Science and Management Information Systems and an M.S. in Management Information Systems.  “Ashwini’s promotion is well earned and a reflection of his many years of unflagging hard work while with the Institute,” said Matthew A. D’Alessandro.  “I know he will excel in this new role and continue his successful efforts in support of the IJIS Institute’s mission.”
