WHO'S HOT IN THE UNDERGROUND WORLD OF URBAN MUSIC

IT'S NO SECRET THAT THIS EMCEE IS A LEGEND

A pioneering Bronx-based hip-hop group with a socially conscious message, Boogie Down Productions (BDP) is the hip-hop vehicle of rapper Kris "KRS-One" Parker. Parker originally formed the group with DJ Scott LaRock who was gunned down in 1987 while trying to break up a street fight and help spark KRS-One's ambitious antiviolence crusade. But it was BDP's Productions' blend of hip-hop with reggae dancehall and rock influences that set the group apart from other message-oriented rappers, as well as KRS-One's dexterous verbosity and blunt beat sense.

HONORING THIS MONTH CELEBRITY PICK-MF GRIMM

A promising career in hip-hop evaded the Manhattan-born rapper MF Grimm after his tragic shooting in the early '90s. Confined to a wheelchair, the man who gave MF Doom his "MF" prefix eventually became a mover and shaker in New York's independent rap scene as founder and CEO of his own label and international distribution company, Day by Day Entertainment. Before he joined the fast-paced vigor of street life, Grimm (born Percival Carey) was an avid skateboarder and actually graced the television screen as a child actor on Sesame Street.

POETRY BY METAPHYSICS-SHE DANCES

She dances melancholic moves of inner city triumph lost to false promise. Her body moves in the embellished conflict scared and stained by the dishonest you see when city lights dim and darkness settles in she begins she spins twirls in a world that collides in a kaleidoscope of Technicolor fantasy she works the pole franticly - practically balancing on her sanity addicted to the make it rain dollar notes scrolled in cocaine tales of money laundering street…

MUSIC IS JUST NOT MUSIC UNLESS YOU PUT YOUR SOUL INTO IT

Each born in Roanoke "Star City",VA. iLL-iteracy's members developed affinities for music early in their lives. Whether it was jam sessions in the basement or rocking the crowd at their high school football games, their talent and love for all things instrumental was obvious.  The group was officially formed in circa 1998, but has known each other since about the age of six.

EXPERIENCE THE TRUE BEAUTY OF BLACK CULTURE WITH RIKKINELL
Rikki and Nell Barron are the founders of RikkiNell.com which began in 2010.  They started this RikkiNellTV to be able to network with others that know and understand the importance of unity within the “so called” Black (Melanin) Community.  Their passion is to give knowledge regarding our history as well as give tools for the future.  Our goal is to let others know how important it is to know thyself. It is time to dig deep inside ourselves and be proud of who we are.

BRYCE BOWDEN IS USHERING IN A NEW ERA OF HIP HOP

Its old school meets new school, east meets west, underground meets mainstream. You be the judge. "In 1989 a star was born." These are the first words shouted out of the mouth of a 21 yr. old Seattle native, during the last song performed inside of a dark Hip-Hop venue on Seattle's Westside. Bryce "B-Heezy" Bowden has captured the hearts of the town locals again. Growing up on the greater eastside, the M.C. has never had a problem getting people’s attention.

IT’S CALMING, RELAXING, AND ROMANTIC-CHECK OUT THIS MONTH'S FEATURE

Tony Faison was born and raised in North Carolina. Music has been a part of his life since he was a child. He is originally known for his unique, while extraordinary gift of playing many instruments. He professionally plays bass guitar, drums, keyboard, piano, organ, acoustic guitar and percussion. Tony has been a musician for more than 18 years. He has composed and arranged numerous instrumental tracks for stage plays, pageants, psalmists, television and film, commercials, and religious settings.

In this Month’s black comedy central we are showing mad love to Katt William. Find out this comedian’s drug of choice. In his words, “M y goal is to build a comedy empire and help restore dignity to our profession. It’s the best I ever feel when I’m on stage, putting the thoughts from my head into those of an audience.  Applause is my drug of choice.” – Katt Williams

We have to show love for our brother Don Cornelius who paved the way for many black entertainers. Soul Train is an American musical variety show that aired in syndication from October 1971 to March 2006. In its 35-year history, the show primarily featured performances by R&B, soul, and hip hop artists, although funk, jazz, disco, and gospel artists have also appeared.

We are also honoring one of my favorite gospel groups of all time, “The Clark Sisters.”  The Clark Sisters have been singing for as long as they can remember, with music as natural a part of their lives as the air they breathed.  With a compelling, commanding fusion of styles as diverse as blues, jazz, R&B and classical, sisters Jacky, Twinkie, Karen and Dorinda created a sound that was new, fresh and entirely their own.
Please continue to check us out monthly as we provide to you some of the hottest underground talent. Also, if you would like to submit to us your presskit, please visit us at: http://www.wordlifeproduction.spruz.com/music-submit.htm  We look forward to hearing from you. As Don Cornelius would say, until next time, we wish you, Love, Peace, and Soul!!!
