Davie students receive honorable mention in national competition to stop hunger

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 21, 2012 - Students from Conservatory Prep Senior High School of Davie, Florida received an honorable mention in the Hunger Ends Here® national competition for in grades 7-12. The competition and related classroom learning activities were part of a larger hunger-fighting campaign by the same name sponsored by Foods® (NYSE: CAG).

   Members of the Conservatory Prep Senior High School team are: Michael Barnett, Aviv Fhima, Connor Frye, Margarita Londono, Scott Olson and Karina Sousa

Honorable mention student teams were selected for recognition because their entries exhibited unique ideas and exemplified the spirit of community service in addressing child hunger.

All student teams’ entries were judged on three criteria: a reflective essay, the average number of meals collected per student in each class or group, and the average number of meals contributed per person by the community organizations targeted by the teams’ marketing plan. Classrooms and youth groups were judged based on the highest average number of meals collected. The student team with the highest cumulative score based on each of the above components was named the winner.

   Conservatory Prep Senior High is an arts-integrated college prep program where students learn core academics through the arts and experiential learning.
