By: Laurian , is to receive and integrate into its system a further update to its Disclosure of Death Registration Information (DDRI) as supplied by the Registrars General for England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The latest addendum is the ‘Scottish gap data’, a list of mortalities registered in Scotland and covers the period between January 2007 and September 2008. The information is only made available to registered licence holders. The DDRI scheme was originally launched in January 2008 to provide licensees with a weekly feed of electronic files of deaths registered in the UK. The data can only be accessed by approved organisations and for reasons permitted by law; its purpose is prevention, detection, investigation and prosecution of offences. Tracesmartwere one of the first organisations to receive the data and continues to be one of a limited number of companies to be given access to the weekly update. The information along with their existing mortality data will enhance and further help Tracesmart’s customers in their battle to mitigate fraud and in particular, preclude impersonation of the deceased (IOD) fraud. Tracesmart has long established itself as one of the UK’s leading data specialists and employs Death Registration Information in its electronic identity verification and mortality screening services within its pension products. Commenting on the company’s recent acquisition, Mike Trezise, Tracesmart’s Managing Director stated, “Scams and deception affect us all; we are committed to offering the highest possible level of service and quality of data to protect our clients against the activity. Unfortunately, fraud and in particular IOD fraud is escalating and mortality data is vital to counteract the increasing level of deception perpetrated by criminals within the financial industries.
