Andrew Wise wins Clinical Recruiter of the Year

Andrew Wise, Principal Consultant in Blue Pelican’s Pharma Division, has won the coveted PharmaTimes Clinical Recruiter of the Year, beating stiff competition from consultants in other leading recruitment agencies and in-house recruiters from CROs.

Feb. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- The PharmaTimes award was created in 2007 to recognise the specialist work done by recruitment professionals within the pharmaceutical industry.  It is unique in that entry is only through customer nomination and the finalists attend an “assessment day” where they are put through a series of role-play exercises marked by industry experts.

Unbeknown to Andrew, he was nominated by a candidate he had helped to find a new position.  He successfully completed the first stage multiple choice stage and attended the finalists’ assessment day where he competed with seven other finalists in a series of role-play exercises including reviewing a CV and a Job Specification with a candidate and a client.

A nervous couple of weeks passed before finals night where Andrew was delighted to be announced as the winner.  Once he got over the shock, Andrew said “I was absolutely delighted to be recognised for the award. I went through a very comprehensive selection process for the final and to have won is a real vindication of my view that a true customer focus will always stand a recruiter in good stead.  Fortunately for me I work for a company that insists on excellence in customer care so my personal principles are strongly encouraged here.”

Sean Morgan, of PharmaTimes commented, “What makes this award unique is that entry is by nomination from satisfied customers.  The final assessment was created by a cross-industry panel of senior Clinical Directors and Managers and judges included representatives from Parexel, Quintiles and The International Academy for Clinical Research.

Andy was assessed over three areas. Firstly his ability to gain a deep understanding of the candidate’s position and suitability for the role. Secondly the ability to communicate effectively to a client and finally a series of competencies including focus on results, awareness of the business environment and service orientation.

Andy is to be congratulated on an outstanding performance. He is a credit to this industry and has helped raise the bar in terms of the quality standards expected of top class Clinical Recruiters.”

“We couldn’t be more proud of Andy’s award”, said Gemma Skillett, Director at Blue Pelican. “It means he will now be recognised externally as the exceptional recruiter he is. Andy genuinely shares our passion for delivering an enhanced recruitment service to his candidates and clients, based on a deep understanding of the industry and the people within it. He embodies our ethos of honest, professional and ethical recruitment and truly works to ensure the best outcome for everyone he engages with, even if this means his efforts don’t result in a placement. This was evident to the panel of assessors and is the reason he has been recognised. It’s a fantastic achievement and we are really thrilled for him.”
