Yun draws inspiration for her work from nature. She likes colorful palettes, and she uses materials, such as burlap and ancient letters, to create texture and to add a hint of different cultures into her abstract style. Yun's goal is to combine the inspirations that she finds everywhere with her own inner vision. Through her zen-like perspective, Yun simplifies natural forms and contemporary complexities in a way that is minimalist. Her courageous explorations and broad use of mixed media bring a sense of intrigue and excitement to her artwork.
“I dare to say, without art the world might be mundane and emotionally chaotic.” - Yun
As a young child in Korea, Yun grew up surrounded by the beauty of nature. Most of the images have faded away into fantasy and longing. Pragmatic memories of nature’s elements are seen vaguely or boldly with simple gestures on the canvas. She paints landscapes for wonder and delight through the use of intense or sentimental colors. Adding primitive materials like burlap for texture, wood chips for depth and printed ancient languages that look rather figurative and mysterious are shown in her work.
