"The reason I am dancing" says Babel, "is to raise funds for the Circle of Hope Foundation which provides assistance to Norwood residents who are in need due to a catastrophic medical occurrence". "This is all about Norwood People helping Norwood People and all proceeds raised go towards helping our friends and neighbors. A large aspect of participating in the event is fundraising for the foundation. Jeanne is hosting a Decorating Event at Babel's on March 8th at 7 p.m. called "The Well Dressed Room" presented by Designer Christopher Eysie. Tickets are $15 and wine and cheese will be served.
Also anyone who would like to donate to the Circle of Hope and support Jeanne can stop by the store or send a check payable to The Circle of Hope c/o Babel's 23 Cottage St Norwood, Ma. 02062. They will automatically be entered into a drawing to Win a $500 Gift Certificate to Babel's.
Jeanne Babel, mother of two, is currently the President of the Friends of Norwood Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the economic vitality of Norwood’s downtown. Jeanne and her husband Vic run the family paint and decorating business in Norwood Center. Jeanne has also served as the chairman of the Norwood Economic Development Committee working to attract new businesses to Norwood’s downtown area.
Jeanne will compete against Patty Griffin Starr, mother, step mother, former teacher and volunteer; Donna Breen, a mother of three children and grandmother of three children, and hair stylist; Paul Bishop, a father of two. assistant to the Chief of Police, former police officer, and member of the Board of Selectmen; Jack Tolman, a father of two and best known around town for his work at NPA-TV; and Rick “Miggy” McGowan, father of six children, and the owner of the popular Colonial House Restaurant.
Jeanne and the 5 other contestants will take 10 weeks of dance lessons at the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Norwood leading up to the competition on March 23rd.
This year’s competition will be held at the Four Points at Sheraton on Route 1 in Norwood.
