The Rockballz maintains the white crown, black PVD face of the previous Burner Superfast 2.0 and R11 fairway woods. The white crown helps eliminate glare and "hot spots", whilst the contrast with the black face makes the Taylormade Rocketballz fairway wood easier to align at address. The clubhead is shaped more traditionally than the previous Burner Superfast 2.0 design, but still provides ample forgiveness.

RocketBallz fairway heads are shaped more traditionally (compared to Burner Superfast fairways) yet are still extremely forgiving. We lowered the CG and pulled it forward to promote a higher launch angle and lower spin-rate – launch conditions that promote greater distance. Compared to our previous fairway woods, it has a larger, deeper face and a large appearance at address. Combining an exceptionally deep face with an exceptionally low CG was a challenge we met thanks to our Ultra-Thin Wall casting process and our Thick-Thin Crown construction.

This  Taylormade Rocketballz fairway wood is radically different from anything that I've seen on the market before or anything that taylormade has produced. They've really taken these fairway wood to new limits. You'll notice, at the base here, that we've got this pocket design, and that's really changed how the ball comes off the club face. What TaylorMade have done is actually managed to increase the COR of this club head up to 0.81%, so only 0.02% away from the maximum legal limit. For a fairway wood, this is phenomenal, and it's a place that TaylorMade have never been before.
