Designer Laura Smalls Brings Elegance and Class to The Empire Hotel During New York Fashion Week

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 17, 2012 - On Wednesday, February 15th Laura Smalls presented her Fall/Winter 2012 American Plains Princess collection at the Empire Hotel. The collection featured looks that any elegant and fashionable woman would love to have in their closet. This collection was inspired by old photos she found of her great grandfather- Chief War Eagle of the Cherokee Nation, and infuses color and print to evoke images of landscapes and skies using shades of burnt reds, honey, saffron and tea. Normally known for her dresses, Laura showed a variety of looks involving intricate separates including cashmere coats, skinny pants and different styles of skirts. Leather details and cut-outs added a surprising edge to the collection giving Smalls a wider reach in this competitive market, all of which were complimented by a collection of chic stiletto Manolo Blahniks.

The American Plains Princess collection is sure to get just as much attention and approval from fashions insider community as her previous collections did. With editors, stylists and New York’s elite in the room supporting Smalls’, she is one step closer to taking over the industry. In attendance for the runway show was Beyoncé’s stylist Ty hunter, opera phenomenon Kathleen Battle, Pulitzer Prize winning writer Robin Givhan, celebrity stylist Paul Wharton, songwriting legend Valerie Simpson and New York socialites Denise Deluca and Bershan Shaw.
   
“Classy!” said Uptown Magazine publisher, Jocelyn Taylor with conviction after the show. “It was great! Even better than the last collection” she says. Bershan Shaw agrees with her and says the show was great and she loved it all. That was the vibe in the room when the show came to an end as everyone scurried around looking for Laura Smalls to congratulate her on a fantastic show. The collection infused the perfect amount of sophistication and class with edge and sexiness as the models strutted down the runway to an eclectic mix of music.
