PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 17, 2012 - On the 9th February 2012, at St. Cuthbert’s Church, Fullwood, Preston, Lancashire County Council held a Celebration Award Event to mark the good practice within social care provider services in Central Lancashire. Over 80 guests award winners and guests attended

The Innovation Award looked for providers who had used innovative ideas to maintain and improve services while at the same time reducing costs. The background to this award was based on the facts that with  funding pressures at the fore, Organisations are no longer able to sustain existing services by working in the time honoured way. This, however, offered opportunities to redesign services on a scale not seen before.  The theme for the day was very much one of celebration and sharing good practice.

“Although we were concerned about the Government’s austerity measures in social services funding” said Robin Bush, MD at Living Ambitions, “We saw an opportunity for change in our service provision that would benefit the people we cared for and work more effectively and efficiently within their budgets. With the help and support of our staff we achieved this”

From a staff point of view this required a fundamental change in payroll and holiday calculations and the organisation prompt and accurate payment of wages. Living Ambitions Support and Outreach workers are now responsive to the needs of the people they support whilst ensuring that support is only available when it’s required.

Living Ambitions were both Winners and Highly Commended in the Innovation Category for their entries titled ' A New Way of Working' and ' Accessing technology a holistic approach'. The Award is clearly a recognition and reward for the work Robin and his team have done over the past 18 months to make  Living Ambitions a ‘Person Centred Organisation’ not only for the citizens they care for but for the staff as well.
