MDH Inaugurates Department of Radiology

Feb. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) inaugurated their newly-renovated Department of Radiology recently, as part of the hospital’s celebration of its 55th anniversary. The said department houses two of MDH’s newest machines, the SOMATOM Computed Tomography CT Scanner and the Mammomat Inspiration, both from the world’s leading medical solutions provider – Siemens.

Now that the Siemens’ Mammomat Inspiration is at MDH, women need not worry about the length of the process nor the time it would take to get the mammogram results. According to Dr. Ma. Socorro Garcia, MDH Allied Medical Services Department Head, “The Mammomat Inspiration is one of the best systems that we have in the hospital at the moment. One of its features is the Moodlight, which provides our patients with a more comfortable screening environment. It features compression paddles that provide the patients a warm and smooth feeling during the exam, and keeps the patients’ radiation exposure at minimal levels. The Mammomat Inspiration,” Dr. Garcia adds, “swiftly performs the screening, so patients spend less time in uncomfortable positions.“


The digital technology utilized by the Mammomat Inspiration allows technicians to adjust the brightness, darkness, or contrast of the digital images produced after the mammogram is complete, making it easier to see subtle differences between the tissues. It also provides a platform for new technologies dedicated to advancing the early detection of breast cancer. “Compared to other machines, the Mammomat Inspiration is top of the line,” shares Dra. Garcia.

Meanwhile, MDH’s new SOMATOM Computed Tomography Scanner is the latest innovative technology for delivering low dose CT examinations for the safety of all its patients, including pediatric patients who are more sensitive to radiation. For the hospital and its physician partners, delivering excellent image quality with significantly reduced radiation dose has always been a top priority.


The SOMATOM Definition Flash also provides fast scanning that minimizes the effects of patient movement, making it especially valuable across all areas whether in trauma, oncological, pediatric and cardiac cases among others. A full pediatric scan can be done in one second, independent of breathing movement making sedation and forced breathing obsolete. The new CT Scanner can meet the highest requirements of the medical community in everyday clinical challenges.
