PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 16, 2012 - Summit, NJ, February 16, 2012—http://www.CareerFuel.net, launched today, offers the first “one-stop shopping” site for the information needed to find a new job or start a business.

The site’s original and aggregated content provides job seekers and startups with targeted information and inspiration, including what steps to take, the best resources available today (many of them free), blogs, videos and success stories. “We have done the work to identify the key actions and resources people need to land a job or launch a business,” said McIIwain.  “Think of CareerFuel as the cliff notes for job seekers and entrepreneurs.”  Best of all, it’s free.

The Job Content Market Is Broken

“There is no one way to find a job”, says McIIwain, “With the advent of social media combined with numerous web tools and apps, the means for finding a job are constantly evolving.  Candidates need to have a presence in most of these platforms to be successful”, she adds.

There are currently thousands of job boards, many networking sites, books, articles and millions of career-oriented URLs.  A search on Google for “job search” delivers over a half a billion matches.  This amount of information is both confusing and overwhelming to the job-seeker.  “People have a hard time determining what is relevant and what is not.  Americans need a GPS system for their work goals”, says McIlwain.  CareerFuel’s condensed and directive content was created to provide such guidance.

The Challenge for Job Seekers and Startups is both Informational and Emotional

When McIlwain’s husband lost his job a few years ago, she witnessed the emotional difficulties and informational challenges of his job search. She saw him pour through confusing information, trying to make sense of it all. She also lived through his accompanying emotional slump.

Not surprisingly, the American Psychological Association reports that the unemployed are twice as likely as the employed to suffer depression, anxiety and poor self esteem.  These conditions can have a material effect on motivation—something that is essential to the job search and startup process.  This is why the CareerFuel site includes original blogs that describe how real people have succeeded in their own job search or startup ventures.  Current articles with testimonials are also provided.  Video, soon to be expanded, will build upon this critical content.

Most Job Seekers Need to Become Small Business Owners to be Reemployed

Finding a job is difficult and stressful, especially so in this climate when, according to the Department of Labor, for the 3.4 million jobs available today, there are almost four unemployed persons per job opening.  If you included people who are working part-time when they prefer full-time work and those considered marginally attached to the workforce, the number rises to seven.

Given the lack of jobs and the central role small business has played over the past several decades in creating jobs and fueling our economy, “one site that enables people to crossover from job search direction to how to start a business is very logical”, says McIlwain.  In one location, CareerFuel delivers “the best of the best” information available today to help people get to where they want to be.

Now more than ever, our country needs such entrepreneurial energy.  Social entrepreneur McIlwain plans to support that energy with CareerFuel.
