Follow on Google News | Seventh Grader Is A Dedicated Donor to Triunfo YMCATwelve-year-old Anna Moss has been enjoying the activities offered through the Triunfo YMCA since she was five. Through the years, she has realized that she gets just as much enjoyment giving back to the Y as she does taking part in the Y's programs.
By: Triunfo YMCA Moss, who is a seventh grader at Medea Creek Middle School in Oak Park, says her seven years at the Y has taught her the value of friendship and the spirit of adventure, but it's also taught her something more. "Through the help of my peers and family, I have also learned that giving can feel just as good as receiving," says Moss. "Everyone needs to feel accomplished at some point in life, and for me, that feeling comes from contributing to the Y's Strong Kids campaign." Moss' dad would take Anna to YMCA fund raising events. "I remember when I was 10 I donated $11 from my piggy bank," says Moss. "The feeling was amazing! Since then, I have become even more involved with the Triunfo YMCA through family programs and Model United Nations. I'll keep giving back. It just feels good." The Southeast Ventura County YMCA and its four branches serving communities in eastern Ventura County are in the middle of its annual Strong Kids fundraising campaign that concludes in mid-March. It hopes to raise $291,000 that will go directly towards making local YMCA programs and memberships available to those in financial need and to enhance YMCA youth and adult programs. The Y, a nonprofit charitable organization, serves more than 26,000 residents annually. Besides the Triunfo YMCA branch (serving Agoura Hills, Westlake Village and Oak Park), the Southeast Ventura County YMCA includes the Conejo Valley YMCA branch (serving Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and the Santa Rosa Valley), Simi Valley Family YMCA branch (serving Simi Valley) and Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park branch (serving Newbury Park including Dos Vientos Ranch). Donations to the Strong Kids campaign can be designated to a specific YMCA branch and are accepted online at http://sevymca.org. Go to “Get Involved” and click on “Make a Donation." # # # With branches in Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Westlake Village and Simi Valley, the Southeast Ventura County YMCA serves the communities of Newbury Park, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley, Santa Rosa Valley, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Oak Park.
