How American Highways effected a nation: a paper by James Apichart Jarvis

London based artist James Apichart Jarvis looks into the cultural and constructive impact highways had on the United States.

Feb. 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Since he is doing a painting exhibition based on his journey around the U.S. states via the Greyhound Bus service, James Apichart Jarvis decided to do explore the historical and cultural importance of American highways in his paper titled 'Disecting the Landscape: Highways that Made America.

Looking how the economy and architecture changed to fit the sprawl of concrete, and how the expanding networks of roads influenced 20th Century culture: from John Steinbeck and Jack Kerouac, to The Rolling Stones and Easy Rider.  

This is the academic paper by an artist who was affected by the beauty of highways and the landscapes it disected, it compliments his new creative art work.
