Susan is the President and owner of Faith Scapes Exteriors, a large commercial landscaping company. As she watches the news about the devastation caused to several towns across the mid-west by tornadoes, she feels compelled to go and assist with the relief efforts. Abundantly blessed in many ways throughout her life she wants to give something back to the community.
Taking her teenage niece Randi, and a trailer loaded with equipment, they begin their journey to reach the devastated areas. Before they can reach the towns, they stop at a supply store for additional equipment and become trapped in an elevator when a tornado suddenly hits the area.
During the many hours they are trapped, Susan helps Randi find comfort in God and reminisces about her life. She tells her niece how God helped her overcome her handicap of dyslexia and become a successful business woman.
“The beauty of W.J. and Lee Walker’s novel is how compassionately they weave a story about humanity’s ability to find and keep our faith, even when the world is literally crashing down around us,” said Kathie McGuire, director of Brighton Publishing LLC. “Not even the destructive force of a tornado is strong enough to get between an aunt and her niece, but when combined with faith in a power even higher than ourselves, a story of love, growth and faith emerges that readers of all ages will enjoy.”
W.J. Walker, a registered nurse, and Lee Walker, a retired engineer, have been married 41 years, since just after graduating high school. Successful in their respective fields and with their children grown, both are enjoying dedicating time to writing and other passions. W.J. is also the author of the highly-acclaimed Memories, a novel published by Brighton Publishing in 2011. They live in Michigan with their yellow lab, Lucy, and their tabby cat, Rusty.
