Feb. 15, 2012 - Hawthorne, NJ – Akadema and San Diego Padres’ speedy centerfielder Cameron Maybin have agreed to extend their exclusive glove contract through the 2012 baseball season. The 2012 season marks Maybin’s seventh year endorsing, as he signed with the baseball company shortly after being drafted tenth overall by the Detroit Tigers in 2005. Although known for his fielding prowess, Maybin put up healthy offensive numbers in 2011, on his way to being named the Padres’ Most Valuable Player. For the 2012 season, Maybin will be looking to improve upon the offensive numbers from his breakout year in 2011. He will also be searching for his first gold glove using Akadema’s ACM 39, which is a glove model inspired by and specifically designed for him during his first six seasons with the company. It is clear that Akadema appreciates the loyalty from one of its longest tenured endorsers. “Cameron has been with us since he was an 18-year-old kid,” says Vice President Kris Totten, “and we were excited to see him break through last year.
