Sponsorships Still Available for School Honoring Shane Victorino in Charity Event

Honorary Chairs Billy and Melanie King are pleased to announce that sponsorships are still available for the annual charity event honoring the work of Shane and Melissa Victorino on Thursday April 26th to benefit Community Partnership School (CPS)

PRLog - Feb. 15, 2012 - PHILADELPHIA -- Billy King recounts, “My good friend from Duke University, Mark Korman, is a board member at CPS and told me that he thought I would be interested in the kind of impact the school is having in North Philadelphia. Once Melanie and I came down for a tour, we were hooked! We saw that CPS is providing a curriculum from one of the area’s best schools (Germantown Academy) to kids who would never have this type of opportunity right in their own neighborhood.”

Melanie King agrees, “We were also very impressed with how parents or caregivers are required to be so involved in their child’s education. They sign a contract, pay tuition on a sliding scale and attend required parent education nights. Parents are so important in a child’s education and CPS emphasizes this fact.”

Founded in 2006, CPS is on the cutting edge of education reform as it represents a unique partnership between Germantown Academy, the nation’s oldest non-sectarian day school, and Project H.O.M.E., a nationally-recognized social service organization in Philadelphia, who joined forces to provide a high-caliber independent school education to children from low-income, low-wealth backgrounds in North Philadelphia.  The school’s success, in part, is due to the visionary leadership of Eric Jones, recently cited as one of Philadelphia’s up and coming young leaders by Philadelphia Magazine.

Dr. Bill Cosby served as Master of Ceremonies at last year’s comedy event, which featured comedians and Broadway Dreams Foundation.  This year’s Comedy Cabaret will again feature The Broadway Dreams Foundation and honor Shane and Melissa Victorino on Thursday, April 26th at Sherman Mills in East Falls.  Limited key sponsorship opportunities are still available.
