Morro Bay Pirate's basketball clinched its second consecutive league title last Friday evening with a 80-54 win over Lompoc High School. With the win they improved to 10-2 to finish league play, the win also secured a first round home game in the playoffs. Leading the way was Scott Milligan, a local product that trains with MonSTARS Athletics sports performance out of San Luis Obispo, he dominated the floor with 21 points and 21 rebounds to assure the league title.
"Scotty is one of those guys that you love to have on your team because of his energy, his attitude, and his willingness to show up and play no matter what. Our team is full of guys like that, and that is the main reason why we've been successful in our league," said assistant coach Tyler Fechner after the win.
The Pirates of Morro Bay will be led by other MonSTAR Athletes as they charge into the playoffs 7:00 pm Wednesday @ home versus Chaminade Prep. These athletes include 6'7" Edward Griley who was last years league MVP as well as junior guard Luke Munds.

Further up the coast is Cambria, CA home of the Coast Union Broncos and several more MonSTAR Athletes. The Broncos had great success in league this year as they secured another league title with an 11-1 record. Leading the Broncos defense is one of MonSTARS' most dedicated athletes. At 6'8", sophomore Logan Brandt is a player that commands a lot of attention from the opposition. He averaged 2.7 blocks per game in his first year of varsity play.
"Logan is a rarity at this level not only because of his length but also because of his basketball IQ. During our club season he averaged nearly 7 blocks per game. I think he is one of those special athletes that has the ability to take the game as far as he wants to go. The future for Mr. Brandt is wide open," says his long-time mentor and fellow big man Chris Funke.
The Coast Union Broncos are matching up against Lancaster Baptist in a first round playoff game this Wednesday 5:00 pm on their homecourt.
