Green B.E.A.N. Delivery to donate more than 6,700 pounds of fresh produce to Midwest food banks

Following a successful canned food drive promotion, organic produce and natural grocery delivery service gives back to those in need

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 14, 2012 - Through its Constant Canned Food Drive program, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery is donating more than 6,700 pounds of fresh produce to food banks in Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne, Ind., Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, and Louisville, Ky. The company delivers organic produce and natural groceries to Midwest homes and workplaces, and has donated more than 130,000 pounds of produce to food banks and other community organizations to date.

Recipients of the produce donations derived from the Constant Canned Food Drive include:

•   Freestore Foodbank in Cincinnati
•   Dare to Care Food Bank in Louisville
•   Mid-Ohio Foodbank in Columbus, Ohio
•   Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana in Indianapolis
•   Associated Churches Food Bank in Fort Wayne

All year long, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery runs the Constant Canned Food Drive program, which encourages members to place non-perishable food items in their delivery bins before pick-up/drop-off, and the company will take the donations to the local food bank.

From Dec. 1-31, Green B.E.A.N. Delivery pledged to match every donation with one pound of fresh produce. Members donated 3,355 pounds of non-perishables resulting in 6,710 pounds of produce being for local food banks.

“It means a lot to have the ongoing support of Green B.E.A.N. Delivery,” said Brian MacConnell, vice president of communications and strategic planning for Freestore Foodbank. “The Constant Canned Food Drive does double the good in pairing so many pounds of fresh, nutritious produce with a great donation of non-perishables that will provide needy families with food for months to come.”

One of the company’s primary missions of Green B.E.A.N. Delivery is the fight against hunger.

"The support of our members this past holiday season was nothing short of remarkable,” said Matt Ewer, president and co-founder of Green B.E.A.N. Delivery. “Reflecting on an amazing 2011, we’re so fortunate to have a loyal customer base willing to go above and beyond for great causes. We look forward to giving back even more as 2012 progresses.”
