PRLog - Feb. 16, 2012 - WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Jennifer Clinton, Ph.D., was formally introduced as incoming President of the National Council for International Visitors (NCIV) during the Opening Plenary Session of the organization’s National Meeting on February 16.

The NCIV Board of Directors unanimously appointed Dr. Clinton (who officially assumes her duties on March 1) to the position following an extensive search. NCIV Board Chair Alexander P. Durtka, Jr. of the International Institute of Wisconsin, said, “Dr. Clinton brings significant experience as a nonprofit executive and strategic thinker. We look forward to working with her and with everyone in the network as we enter the next phase of our institutional growth and continue to engage in efforts to guarantee NCIV’s future as a leader in citizen diplomacy."

Dr. Jim Stockton, NCIV Board member and Chair of the Transition Team, said, “Dr. Clinton is a highly intelligent, motivated leader with the ability and experience to use strategic planning to take our network to the next level.  We were impressed with her passion for the cause of citizen diplomacy and her ideas to assist our member organizations to realize their full potential.”

“I have been inspired by the level of commitment and enthusiasm for the mission demonstrated by the Board, the staff, and the NCIV members and partners,” said Dr. Clinton. “I look forward to working with the network and the Department of State to carry forward the tradition of excellence in citizen diplomacy and to strengthen our collective impact for the future.”

Dr. Clinton most recently served as Executive Vice President of The Washington Center (TWC), which provides experiential education and career development opportunities in Washington, D.C. for college and university students from across the country and around the world.  During her tenure, she successfully led the organization’s strategic planning processes, secured significant public and private resources for the organization, led a comprehensive rebranding effort, leveraged and integrated new technology platforms to improve communications and operations, and launched an organization-wide research agenda to position TWC as a thought leader in experiential learning.  She previously served as Special Assistant to the President & CEO of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and as Program Manager of STS Foundation, an international high school exchange program. She earned her M.B.A. from the University of Maryland, a Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of California, Davis and her bachelor's degree in political science and French from Marquette University.
