Cop these cheeky number plates!

Feb. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Possibly one of the most attention grabbing number plates available to buy ‘H1 COP’ is up for sale at the forthcoming Race Retro & Classic Car Sale.

Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, who are hosting the sale, said: “We think suitable buyers might include an off-duty Chief Inspector or someone with a mischievous streak!

“Joking aside, it’s definitely one of the most eye-catching number plates that we’ve seen and it will be interesting to see who bids for it.”

Also under the hammer are a couple of number plates which might prompt some interest from famous celebrities. They include ‘ V1 NNY’ which might appeal to footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones and ‘1 UCY’, perhaps the plate of choice for model and TV personality Lucy Pinder or actress and film producer Lucy Liu?

Car enthusiasts won’t be disappointed with some very distinctive plates also at auction. Ferrari owners are expected to be among those bidding for ‘F360 FER’, ‘A1 FER’ and ‘F 575 FER’, while Porsche 911 owners will love ‘THR 911 S’.

Meanwhile, anyone who is lucky enough to drive an AC Cobra might be tempted with ‘COB 13 A’.

However, it’s not just number plates under the hammer because the main sale includes classic and race cars, plus a selection of motorbikes and other automobilia. Notable car lots include a 1958 Tojeiro Jaguar, a 1966 Shelby GT-350 and a 1961 Maserati 3500GT.

The Race Retro and Classic Car Sale takes place at the Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show, Europe’s premier historic racing event, which is held from the 24th to 26th February at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Viewing of the lots at Race Retro is all day on the Friday (24th) and until midday on the Saturday (25th), when bidding commences.
