PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 14, 2012 - Uganda is often referred to as the ‘Pearl of Africa’ – and it is not difficult understand why. This beautiful country is full of varying yet rarely visited national parks, which contain some of the planet’s most fascinating, and unfortunately endangered species. The chance to experience these captivating animals up close and personal is of course part of this cycling tour South Africa. On the agenda are Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking, tree lions, elephants, giraffe and gazelle. Not forgetting of course the comfortable lodges and friendly local Ugandans. In small groups and led by experienced experts  this bike tour displays the natural wonders Uganda has to offer.

A bike safari in the Lake Mburo national Park is a truly unique experience. The cycle route heads off along the hilly streets to Bugoma, where fishing boats assist the cyclists in getting back to the mainland. The previous day having been spent relaxing on the island of Lake Victoria. After a revitalizing picnic and drive to the entrance of the national park, a wealth of wildlife awaits. Although the Mburo National park is the smallest of Uganda’s Savannah national parks, it still manages to include over 300 species of birds. The game drive by bike then leads the cyclists past zebra, impala and buffalo, before reaching the idyllically located Mantana Luxury Tented Camp, set in the middle of the hilly acacia landscape.

This cycling tour of Uganda also offers the cyclist the opportunity to take part in chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale Forest National Park. This particular day of the tour is spent cycling and hiking through the national park, as well as the hilly crater landscape at the foot of the Ruwenzori Mountains. The Kibals National Park protects primarily moist evergreen rainforest, but despite this contains a diverse array of landscapes, and is one of the last remaining expanses to contain both lowland and montane forests. To be able to explore such a region by bike and by foot is truly special.
