Spreading Love for Shania this Valentine’s Day!

Feb. 14, 2012 - PRLog -- The parents of 12 year old Cancer sufferer Shania Dempsey-James are hoping that people will show support towards their fundraising efforts by spreading their love on Valentine’s Day and giving a donation towards raising £15k to support her trip to America.

Shania was diagnosed in July 2011 with Spindel Cell and is currently being treated at UCL Hospital in London under a specialist team of Consultants.  She needs to take the trip to America to have Photon Laser Therapy a treatment that is not available in the UK.

This beautiful and brave young girl has a loving family and host of friends doing all that they can to fundraise – to date £3400 has been raised.  Shania's old primary school, Wormley Church of England, has been doing various fundraising, which has included cake baking; book sales; school disco; and a non-uniform day.  Broxbourne School, which is Shania’s current school have also done a non-uniform day; cake sales; and sponsored silences.  

Shania’s family have arranged a Masquerade Ball, which will be taking place in Hertfordshire on the 25th February 2012 and tickets has already sold out.  The local community are also supporting Shania.  Luke Daniel, a British competing athlete has volunteered to do a sponsored run from Cheshunt to Big Ben on the 26th February 2012 donations can be made through Just Giving.

Shania’s Mother, Sharon Dempsey is so humbled by all the support Shania has received, she’s overwhelmed: “Totally blown away by the support of the local community, friends and strangers. I was told recently by a close friend that it takes a community to raise a child and in the last few weeks it’s been proven. I am overwhelmed by the support!”
