Feb. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA — Veteran mobile market research analyst Maribel Lopez, founder and principal analyst of Lopez Research, will lead a three-session track on mobility at Cloud Connect 2012 taking place at the Santa Clara Convention Center this week. The first mobility track ever for Cloud Connect, the sessions will explore the evolution of the “mobile cloud” and its profound implications for changing business. Lopez will interview leading IT executives from HP, Symantec, Fiberlink and others.

“The inclusion of a Mobile Track during Cloud Connect 2012 marks the powerful convergence of mobility, the cloud and today’s ‘social enterprise’ into a new generation of IT services,” says Lopez, the Mobile Cloud Track Chair. “To date, the industry has tended to regard mobile and cloud-based services as separate entities when in fact each function is an enabler for the other.”

Lopez predicts cloud-based services will provide a test and development environment for new mobile apps that will open the floodgates for innovative applications, pricing and distribution models. As the convergence of mobile and cloud-based technologies ushers in new challenges and opportunities for businesses, attendees of the Cloud Connect 2012 Mobile Track will gain insight into how best to prepare for the transition, and into strategies for evaluating which applications should be mobilized, which resources should reside on and off premises, and assessing implications for security.

Taking place Thursday morning, February 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 in the Grand Ballroom H of the Santa Clara Convention Center, the new Mobile Track offers three compelling sessions exploring the convergence of mobility, “social,” and the cloud:

•   Executive Fireside Chat: Creating New Opportunities at the Intersection of Mobile, Social and Cloud with guests Joe Weinman, Communications, Media and Entertainment Industry Strategic Programs, HP and David McCandless, Director IT, Navis.

•   Executive Fireside Chat: Perspectives on Mobile and Cloud from the Investment, Virtualization and Security Arena with guests: Navin Chaddha, Managing Director, Mayfield Fund; Evan Quinn, Product Marketing, Symantec; Sebastiano Tevarotto, Chairman and CEO, Wanova Inc.

•   How does the Cloud Change Your Mobile App Strategy? with panelists Dharmesh Syal, VP & Head, Business Development, Infrastructure Managed Service, Mahindra Satyam; Chris Perret, CEO, Nukona; and Jim Szafranski, SVP, Customer Platform Services, Fiberlink.
