UHY’s David Barton to Share Knowledge on Service Organization Audits February 14

Feb. 13, 2012 - PRLog -- UHY Advisors’ David Barton will address professional service organizations and their customers and lead a discussion on data center audit standards and assessments during a webinar Tuesday, February 14th from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET.  The session, “Making Sense of Service Organization Audits,” will discuss the differences between AICPA’s (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) SOC (Service Organization Controls) audits and reports, other types of audits, and the difference between point-in-time, period of time, self-assessments and independent assessments.  

“There is a lot of confusion in the marketplace right now about SOC reports and audits, and this webinar is designed to alleviate that,” said Barton.  “I encourage anyone who is involved with these reports to attend the webinar and gain critical knowledge about the changes to and differences between the varying reports.”

The webinar is hosted by SmartData Collective and will also feature Jon Long, CISA, QSA Senior Audit Manager at CompliancePoint, and Jason Yaeger, Director of Operations at Online Tech.

Barton is leader of the Enterprise Risk Advisory Services practice with UHY Advisors.  With over 25 years of practical experience, he is an expert in risk identification, assessment and evaluation; risk response; risk monitoring; IS control design and implementation; and IS control monitoring and maintenance.

With his intellectual capital of IT security and risk, Barton is asked by the industry to speak at conferences and events, most recently presenting two sessions at the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Security by Design conference in November of 2011.  He shared his expertise and knowledge on the risks of cloud computing and the new AICPA standards for service organization control (SOC).

Earlier last year Barton addressed the Atlanta Technology Summit on “Security and Legal Issues in the Era of Cloud Computing,” highlighting critical issues about information systems and technology risk.  He was recently quoted in Accounting Today (January 2012) in an article about information security risks in CPA firms.
