Feb. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, NC – Wine and Design, Raleigh’s popular wine and painting party venue, has added yet another facet to its thriving business.  The studio recently moved to 219 Bickett Boulevard—gaining 500 square feet of indoor studio space, as well as enhancing their property with over 1,000 square feet of outdoor space.  The new exterior features a partially covered patio, fireplace, bar, and view of the Raleigh skyline.

Wine and Design is the dream of longtime friends and business partners Emmy Preiss and Harriet Mills.  The studio opened its doors in April 2010 as the area’s first and only wine and painting party company.  At a cost starting at $35 per person, Wine and Design provides the canvas, cover-up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew.  First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pro’s browse the company’s website to find a painting they would like to replicate.  Sessions are led by local artists that guide participants through a carefully-orchestrated, step-by-step process that promises a finished “masterpiece” at the end of the two-hour session.  Just shy of its second anniversary, the business currently has eight franchise locations in North Carolina, one in South Carolina, and two in Virginia.  Looking back at how far and fast the company has come, the first word that comes to Preiss’ mind is “wow”.

“When Harriet and I first heard about this concept back in January 2010, we couldn’t even begin to imagine how wildly popular this concept would be,” says Preiss.  “We knew we had a great idea, we had an affordable price point, and a good market, but we couldn’t predict just how successful we were going to be.  To be able to virtually double our space within two years of opening proves that our business plan was solid and that the market and time was right for this concept.”

Mills says that she and Preiss are happy to be staying on Bickett Boulevard and are absolutely thrilled with their new space.  She says that this space is really the “best kept secret inside the beltline” and both she and Preiss intend to invest additional capital in order to fulfill their dream of what they want their studio look like both inside and out.

“This new space will allow our customers an entirely new way to enjoy painting by experiencing it outside,” says Mills.  “It will give customers the choice to paint under the stars while looking at downtown Raleigh.  This just adds a whole new dimension to our offerings, and we can’t wait to offer this fabulous opportunity to our current and prospective clients.”

In addition to regularly-scheduled painting parties, Wine and Design also hosts fundraisers with a portion of the proceeds going directly to the cause.  Over the past two years, the studio has raised money for the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, National MS Society, Susan G. Komen, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, InterAct’s Rock for Kids, StepUP Ministry, The V Foundation for Cancer Research, the Society for the Prevention and Cruelty to Animals, Sound Pet Rescue, and many others.

Wine and Design accepts general reservations, but also books private parties.  Bridal and baby showers, date night, birthday parties, and girls’ night out are just a few of their offerings, as well as a selection of events just for kids.  To find out more, visit www.wineanddesignnc.com
