Whitney was was the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston, and the cousin of  Dionne Warwick and the goddaughter of Aretha Franklin.
She leaves behind millions of fans worldwide with over 100 million records sold worldwide.
ABC news interrupted the Charlie Brown Valentines special with news of her untimely death.
