Black History Month Vocal Extravaganza

Feb. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- The Manhattan Opera Repertory Ensemble (MORE Opera) and producers Cheryl Warfield, soprano and baritone Richard Hobson will present “Black History Month Extravaganza,” a gala concert paying homage to African-American opera singers past and present on Sunday February 26, 2012 at 7:30 PM at Christ and St. Stephen’s Church, 122 West 69th Street near Columbus Avenue in Manhattan.  The performance will include operatic arias, opera excerpts and spirituals performed in conjunction with a dramatic narrative based on the lives and careers of renowned Black singers.  Singers scheduled to appear include sopranos Cheryl Warfield and Virginia Herrera, mezzo-sopranos Wendy Gerbier and Lorraine Helvick, tenor Adam Klein, baritone Richard Hobson, and basses Steven Fredericks and Ricardo Lugo, accompanied by Steven M. Crawford. Come hear the expressive vocal qualities of some of New York's finest talent in this performance.
