Feb. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- In February of 2010, a man was taken into custody after allegedly shouting and causing a scene inside of a Tamarac 7-Eleven store, according to police reports.  According to video evidence that his attorney, John Stephen Hager of Hager & Schwartz, P.A., revealed, however, the alleged suspect was calmly awaiting a pot of coffee to be made when he was taken down by police officers.  The record shows that the suspect, T.B., was arrested on charges of assault of a law enforcement officer, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest without violence.  The charges did not stick with him, though. Immediately after presenting video evidence from the scene of the arrest to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, T.B.’s criminal charges were dismissed, according to his attorney.

Now, almost two years later, criminal charges are being filed against the two deputies on one count of falsifying a record, and two counts of falsifying public records, according to the court.  The officers wrote in their respective reports that the suspect was “very loud” and “boisterous” in the convenience store, in addition to “clenching his fist” and “arguing” with an officer.  Although the video has no audio, witnesses recall that T.B. was not yelling at the deputies. The video also reveals that T.B. was calmly awaiting the pot of coffee when he began walking towards an officer with one hand in his pocket, the other loosely at his side.  Witnesses recount an officer asking T.B. what he was “looking at” shortly before tackling him to the floor. Public sources have also noted that an attorney of one of the deputies is confident in the case.
