Tulsa, Okla.― The Tulsa Chapter of Oklahoma Business Ethics Consortium (OK Ethics) will host keynote speaker Clifton Taulbert, who will deliver a presentation titled “Ethics & Entrepreneurship: Your Personal Brand Matters” on Thursday, February 23, 2012.

Clifton Taulbert is the President and Founder of the Building Community Institute, an organizational development and human capital consulting company headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Taulbert’s ability to connect with diverse individuals across a broad professional spectrum has introduced him to audiences from members of the United States Supreme Court, as a personal guest of Sandra Day O’Connor, to CEOs of Fortune 500 Companies, professional organizations and the Federal Senior Executive Series Forum.

According to Taulbert, “Entrepreneurship is a word that seems to be on every tongue throughout the media as our nation looks for means to recover from our economic downturn. More and more, the turn is to the individual and his or her capacity and ability to innovate.” He further stated, “As these individual efforts are pushed from the highest levels, personal behavior becomes the back conversation. To ensure sustainability of effort, integrity and ethical behavior must be hand-in-hand,” stated Taulbert

Michael Oonk, OK Ethics Tulsa Chapter President, said, “We expect many Tulsa leaders will be in attendance for this highly sought after speaker.”

Taulbert grew up and was educated in the Mississippi Delta during the era of legal segregation and surprisingly, it was during those dire times of his young life that he experienced community and the power of intentional unselfishness. It changed his life. The world was introduced to his small community in his internationally acclaimed memoir, “Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored,” which was made into a major motion picture. His latest book, “Who Owns the Icehouse?” is based on his growing up experiences, and draws on eight essential life-lessons he gained from his Uncle Cleve, an unlikely entrepreneur in the segregated South.

The luncheon will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel downtown, 616 W. Seventh St., from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  The cost for the lunch program is $25 for OK Ethics members (except prepaid) and $35 for non-members. Guests are welcome and encouraged to attend, though reservations are required. Register online at http://www.okethics.org no later than Monday, February 20. However, it is recommended you reserve your space early.

Free parking is available in the covered parkade adjacent to the hotel. OK Ethics is pleased to highlight its return to hosting programs in downtown Tulsa. For additional questions about the program, or event registration, please contact Michael Oonk at (918) 481-3822 or mpo@americanbanktulsa.com.
