This course of evolution of consciousness is slow and steady. Most of us are unaware that we all are gradually evolving, spontaneously. However, as we become aware of our ultimate aim in life we intent to speed up this process of our spiritual growth. We begin to open our eyes to our spiritual Self. Before this awakening, we may have pursued our religious faith, followed our traditional path, believed in our chosen ideal or God, but spiritual path is different. Following our traditional religious beliefs we were still taking the slow evolutionary path of our consciousness.

With our spiritual awakening, our main purpose for self-improvement becomes our spiritual growth. The slow and steady evolution of our consciousness gains momentum and acceleration. Not only we speed up our evolutionary path but we also learn to go beyond our traditional path and beliefs. We get spiritually revolutionised. Our revolution may well be within our established religion or even outside the confines of our traditional beliefs. But, sooner or later, our spiritual experiences will come in conflict with our established doctrines, and we will eventually learn to go beyond the traditions.

However, whether our spiritual awakening and subsequent self-improvement and spiritual growth happen within or without our religion, we will eventually learn to follow our true spiritual guide. Our real Self. True guidance always comes from within us. It rarely comes from the established doctrines of churches, temples, books or society. Spirituality is a journey for liberation. It is not something to be done on certain days or times, and following certain established rules and code of conducts. The rules and restrictions only create bondage. Spirituality, rather, begins when you transcend all bondage.

The journey on the spiritual path is effortless and spontaneous. It is an adventurous path taken for Self-discovery. The greatest adventure for mankind is to discover our true Self. We need to go beyond our past conditionings to emerge stronger and happier. We need to remove our physical, mental or emotional baggage and blockages, to come closer to our true Self. spiritual growth is not something we achieve on reaching the destination; the journey itself is our growth.
