Leotek Appoints New President - Dr. James Hwang

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 9, 2012 - MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA – February 8, 2012 – Leotek Electronics USA Corp., a global pioneer in light-emitting diode (LED) technology since 1992, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. James Hwang, PhD as President, effective October 17, 2011.

Dr. Hwang received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and began his professional experience at the Central Research of Dow Chemical, in the field of Advanced Ceramics.  During his tenure at Dow Chemical, Dr. Hwang developed multiple new material patents that contributed to the commercialization.  Dr. Hwang’s introduction to solid-state lighting technology began in 1995 with Highlight Optoelectronics Corporation, where he transferred his past material development background into technology for growing light-emitting diode (LED) epi materials.  Dr. Hwang expanded his solid-state lighting expertise while employed by Harvartek Corporation, where he pioneered surface mount device (SMD) LED technology.  With thirty-three years of engineering, operational and executive service within the chemical and LED industries, Dr. Hwang has gained extensive knowledge of semiconductor materials and LED lighting applications.  Dr. Hwang joined Leotek in 2002 and has served the company by functioning in several capacities throughout his ten-year tenure.
