Entrepreneur Michael Kranitz Takes Magazine Apps To New Altitude

With industry-leading writing and interactivity, RC Pilot engages readers and enthusiasts worldwide.

Feb. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Transforming mass media from static printed pages to interactive tablet screens usually means you can literally read a magazine’s pages on your computer by either visiting a website or downloading an app.  But not when innovator / entrepreneur Michael Kranitz enters the picture.  He took his passion for starting businesses and for radio controlled airplanes, and created RC Pilot Magazine, which literally leaps off the “pages” of your tablet computer (www.rcpilot.com or RCPilot at the App Store or Android Market).

“Users who experience the magazine are uniformly surprised and pleased with the vivid and engaging experience the tablet delivers,” Kranitz says.  Launched officially in January 2012, RC Pilot has already begun to shake up the highly competitive media market as well as the radio control hobby industry.  The latest issue of RC Pilot features Olympic champion and reality TV star Bruce Jenner on the cover, along with an in-depth story and video interview with the RC helicopter aficionado.

Kranitz’s story illustrates how software and innovative thinking can combine to allow small businesses to disrupt the status quo in their industries.  Since leaving the practice of law in 1996, Kranitz has repeatedly leveraged technology to bring industry-changing ideas to market.  In 1997 he created what Motor Trend Magazine dubbed the “granddaddy of auto leasing sites”; and followed that in 1999 with a first-of-its-kind online auto site that Ford and Microsoft acquired the following year.  In 2003, Kranitz transformed the radio control hobby industry with RCUniverse.com, a site that would become the world’s largest online community for radio control hobbyists.  In 2005, he spun out Kaango, a syndicated online classified ad solution to unite newspapers around a single marketplace.  Hearst and MediaNews Group acquired both RCUniverse and Kaango in 2007.  Kranitz ran both companies until 2010.

RC Pilot aims to lift the industry’s journalism to a new altitude, both in terms of content and delivery.  With industry-leading writing and interactivity, RC Pilot engages readers and enthusiasts worldwide.  In addition to fascinating stories about the most interesting people, aircraft, and events, RC Pilot also delivers interactive advertisements that both entertain and inform.  Determined to lead the radio control hobby industry into the future, RC Pilot will inspire small and large media enterprises everywhere.
