Follow on Google News | Ronald McDonald House of Dallas Hires First Ever Chief Financial Officer, CDO and Special EventsThe Ronald McDonald House of Dallas welcomes Laura Durham Leach, Whitney Newell and Allison Vanderwoude to its staff.
Laura Durham Leach joins the team at the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas as chief development officer. Previously, Leach was the director of development with Wonders & Worries, an Austin based nonprofit where she provided leadership, strategic direction, management and coordination for all fundraising and donor relations. She also served as vice president of marketing and development for the YWCA of Nashville & Middle Tennessee where she was responsible for fundraising and creating memorable campaigns and special events. She began her career in fundraising after graduating from Columbia College. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive. Whitney S. Newell has been named chief financial officer for the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, making it the first time the House has had a full time CFO. From 2006 to 2011, Newell owned Whitney S. Newell CPA, P.C., specializing in nonprofit and small business accounting. Prior to that, she was a partner at Hawk & Russell, PLLC, an accounting and consulting firm. At these two firms, the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas was the largest client. She has also held accounting positions in the private industry. Newell graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University and is a member of AICPA and Texas Society of CPAs. Allison Vanderwoude has joined the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas as the special events manager where she manages all special events including The Trains at NorthPark, the annual Moonlight Ball, the Young Friends program and annual auction, and any third party events that benefit the House. Previously, she served as Good Shepherd Episcopal School’s annual fund coordinator, where she helped the school meet monetary and participation goals while increasing annual giving. She also served as a member of the school’s advancement office and was involved in the planning and coordination of special events for the school.
