The World Health Organization recommends continued breastfeeding up to 2 years of age or beyond; but with social stigma and peer and familial pressure, many woman either choose not to breastfeed or quit much sooner than 2 years. “It wasn’t until I started nursing my own baby last year that I became aware of the social challenges nursing moms have to deal with,” said Jenny Justice nursing mom and owner of Everything Mia. “Honestly, I think it is sad and this calendar has been created in an attempt to support and encourage the moms that make the decision to nourish their child naturally.”
There are no dates on this calendar as it is meant to be tailored to baby’s first year regardless of when they are born. It is also multifunctional as it can be used to track wet/dirty diapers (important to new breastfeeding moms), ounces pumped and ounces of milk consumed, doctor’s appointments and all of baby’s firsts experienced during the magical first year!
Full interviews of the moms featured in the calendar can be found on www.everythingmia.com where they discuss their personal breastfeeding journey with Everything Mia’s Owner, Jenny Justice.
Initially the calendar will be sold in English; a Spanish version will be available sometime in March.
