Tot and Teen-Friendly Self-Catering with Spain-holiday.com

Spain continues to top the polls as the most family-friendly destination in Europe with its child-friendly restaurants, sandy beaches, eclectic culture and fabulous climate.

PRLog - Feb. 9, 2012 - Spain-holiday.com, the fastest growing company for holiday rentals in Spain, features over 5,600 holiday homes across Spain, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, with a huge choice of child-friendly properties to suit every budget.

According to Claus Sorensen, Founder, Spain-holiday.com, “Self-catering continues to be a popular choice for families as it provides flexibility and value for money.  Children get to sleep in their own rooms, families aren’t dictated to by hotels’ rigid meal times and most properties have the luxury of a private pool and free Wi-Fi.  We are also noticing a trend for larger group bookings as two or three families choose to holiday together and thus get more for their money.”

Here are just some of the family-friendly properties with availability during this year’s school holidays:

TOT-FRIENDLY:
Can Maxia (property ref: 12785 – sleeps 16) is a fully-restored eight-bedroom stone house close to the Catalan town of Berga, currently with plenty of availability in July and August.  Ideal for three or four families holidaying together, the property boasts a fenced pool, playground with swings and slide, games room, football field, outdoor kitchen and stunning countryside views.  Prices in July/August start from £2,590 (€3,090) per week for the property or £162 pp (16 sharing).  Nearest airport: Barcelona (110 km).

Spain’s fertile Costa Tropical is a little-known region that’s overlooked by the Sierra Nevada Mountains and blessed with avocado and mango orchards, sugar cane plantations and golden beaches.  Buena Vista Villa (property ref: 2088 – sleeps nine) in Salobreña has panoramic views of the town’s Moorish castle and the ocean, four bedrooms, a fenced pool, BBQ area and roof terrace.  It’s also close enough for a day trip to Granada’s enchanting Alhambra Palace.  Prices in April start from £1,125 (€1,350) per week for the property or £125 pp (nine sharing). Nearest airports: Granada (60 km) or Malaga (75 km).

TEEN-FRIENDLY:
Villa Serral (property ref: 8198 – sleeps eight) in Mallorca is a peaceful four-bedroom villa surrounded by olive and citrus groves yet close enough to the smart resort of Cala D’Or for meals out.  The open-plan property has a spacious living area with French doors opening on to sun terraces and a floodlit pool for sunset swims.  A personal chef or beauty therapist is also available on request.  Prices in July/August start from £3,068 (€3,679) per week for the property or £384 pp (eight sharing).  Nearest airport: Palma (58 km).

Teenagers will love to tweet about this one.  Can Sala de Dalt (property ref: 13249 – sleeps 12) in Ibiza is a funky boutique hotel-style villa with a decked pool surrounded by chic white cabanas, huge sun terraces with panoramic views and two separate sleeping areas so teenagers and parents can enjoy some personal space.  Located just outside Santa Eulalia, there are numerous art galleries, restaurants, artisan shops, craft markets and a glamorous marina to explore.  Prices in April/May start from £4,178 (€5,000) per week for the property or £348 pp (12 sharing).  Nearest airport: Ibiza Airport (17 km).

BUDGET BUSTING:
For a hassle-free week in the sun, El Pomelo (property ref: 7611 – sleeps five) is located in the pretty village of Conil de la Frontera on Spain’s Costa de la Luz.  The three bedroom property has a communal pool and garden and is within walking distance of the town’s beaches, tapas restaurants and ice-cream parlours.  Prices in June half-term start from £578 (€695) per week for the property or £116 pp (five sharing).  Nearest airport: Gibralter/Jerez (75 km).

Sneak in a week in early September before the kids go back to school and the weather is balmy at a stylish three-bedroom contemporary villa in Altea La Vella (property ref: 11296 – sleeps six) with mountain views and sandy coves nearby.  With a chic contemporary design and private pool, hi-spec kitchen, air-conditioning and satellite TV, the property is situated just inland from Altea, one of the prettiest fishing villages on the Costa Blanca.  Prices in September start from £689 (€825) per week for the property or £115 pp (six sharing).  Nearest airport: Alicante (55 km).

SPECIAL OCCASION:
Perfect for a family celebration, Molino Los Medicos (property ref: 6958 – sleeps 10) is set within a private 15 acre estate near Gaucin, one of Andalucia’s prettiest hilltop villages with far-reaching views of North Africa’s Rif Mountains.  The house, a former mill, oozes style with vaulted ceilings, five air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms, large infinity pool, tennis court, cinema, games room, broadband and walk-in showers.  Prices in February/October half-term start from £4,600 (€5,500) per week for the property or £460 pp (10 sharing).  Nearest airport: Malaga (100 km).
