YA Paranormal Mystery Book Series “The Spooky Chronicles” Continues With New Stories

Film Critic and Author Kevin A. Ranson Continues the Story of a Dead Little Boy Continuing to Grow Up, Dealing With Real World Challenges In Addition to Paranormal Mystery.

Feb. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Houston, Texas - February 9th, 2012 -- Houston area resident, Kevin A. Ranson, has recently released two books in his series “The Spooky Chronicles” (SpookyChronicles.com) with a companion short story and third book on the way. Readers reveal that they “would honestly put it in the same class as the early RL Stine books for maintaining interest” while critics rave "(the author's) take on the genre brings out more of a mythological, paranormal mystery... not a gore fest about survivors frantically trying to hold back hordes of the walking dead... (making) this series so much more interesting.”

Spooky, the child featured in the series described as “a dead little boy continuing to grow up,” is modeled after the author’s own life experience. In addition to investigating and solving paranormal mysteries, the book series also deals with being an only child in a single-parent broken family. Revelations at the end of “The Terminal People” change the father and son relationship, setting an example of the trust a child can put in a parent no matter how bizarre events in their life may become. Future story lines will include urban exploring, making hard decisions about doing the right thing, and even dealing with bullies in school. The inclusion of a new best friend in the series also addresses helping others who have trouble helping themselves and coming from a different sort of broken home.

The first two ebooks are currently available for digital download at Smashwords.com (in all popular formats) and is available in print at both Lulu.com and on Amazon. The series can be also found in the online stores for Apple iTunes (for iPad and iPhone), Barnes and Noble (for Nook), the Sony Reader, and on Amazon Kindle. The first two books, “The Crooked Man” and “The Terminal People” are now available with “Schoolhouse Number Five” due for publication Spring 2012. The fourth book title has also been announced: “Greene Square Middle.”
