Brits Holiday Expectations For Cornwall Caravan Parks Are High

Feb. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- In the 1950s a typical holiday in the UK was quite different from holidays taken today.  Although the mindset is the same, lounging on the beaches, paddling in the sea and enjoying the amusements, expectations and tastes have changed and the expectations of the average Brit is high.

In the 1950s the cheap International flight had not been introduced and holiday resorts of the Mediterranean and much further had not been developed, and for their summer holidays the British tended to visit the resorts in their own area.

A famous town was earmarked for a holiday and for Northerners Blackpool was the place, and of course Brighton for those living in the South, and in those days a Trip to the West Country for someone living in the North would have been seen as exotic.

Staying in a hotel or one of the many Cornwall caravan parks now very popular with holidaymakers in the UK would have been unknown in the 1950s, and simply because hotels were only affordable for the well off, most families stayed in bed and breakfasts, and stories that have been handed down were about strict unsmiling landladies.

A caravan park Cornwall was available, but very unlike the luxury holiday parks of today, toilet and washing facilities were basic and communal, and caravans were nothing like the modern static caravan complete with mod cons.

In those days caravans were cramped, tiny, and lacked a WC, the seaside holiday of today on either campsites in Cornwall, or a Devon caravan park are so far removed from those early days, when families traveled, along with other families, to the seaside on coaches or trains, and stayed on regimented holiday camps, which had been introduced before the second world war, and were tremendously popular during the 1950s, families did stay in their own on-site chalets, but everyone ate together in large halls, and every day silly competitions and contests were held, and at this time the British absolutely loved it.

Today is a totally different story, holiday parks in both Devon and Cornwall also great campsite Devon have become very popular with the British holidaymaker, it is total freedom to do exactly what you want and cater for the whole family, in modern kitchens, and separate bedrooms, and also bathrooms, it is a home from home feel but on holiday.

Luxury caravans are up for rent, holiday cottages, and pitches for touring caravans, motor-homes, or tents are all on the same site, so you have a choice of accommodation, furthermore the West Country has some of the most beautiful sites, with sea views and a stones throw from wonderful sandy beaches.
