Giro Food selects Optrak’s vehicle routing and scheduling software

Feb. 8, 2012 - PRLog -- Giro Food Limited, a wholesale food distributor based in Central Birmingham has chosen Optrak Distribution Software Limited’s vehicle routing software to plan more efficient routes for its centrally based distribution service.  The routing software will be integrated with Giro’s back office system from Sanderson, and will enable Giro to improve transport efficiency and customer service whilst reducing distribution costs.

Analysts from Optrak used Giro’s transport data to recreate its route planning environment and showed how the routing software (http://optrak.com/applications/vehiclerouting) could create an efficient set of routes in a fraction of the time that is currently required.  Optrak will allow Giro to retain nominated drivers for specific regions as defined by groups of postcodes.  This will provide greater continuity for the end customer as they will continue to be served by the same driver even though the sequence of the deliveries may change on a daily basis.
