Feb. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- READING, PA – As part of its ongoing investment in efficiency and efforts to drive innovative and justifiable solutions for their clients, Fortna announces DCmodeler Version 3.0.  This sophisticated tool quickly analyzes years of item, order, receipt, shipment and inventory data to provide a foundation for projecting future business requirements and growth.  A proprietary tool, DCmodeler can do in hours what takes weeks using custom spreadsheet, database, or statistical software.  DCmodeler provides quick and accurate data simulations allowing Fortna consultants to focus on alternative and “tipping point” analysis while developing the best custom and justifiable design for a client’s distribution operations.

Fortna clients have complex distribution operations that require unique solutions.  Each of Fortna’s clients have unique product mixes and order profiles and DCmodeler accelerates and automates much of the analysis work.  For example, it analyzes each item’s dimensions, weight, velocity and inventory requirements and recommends the best storage media for each item.  It also analyzes seasonal trends at the item level so inventory is minimized and facilities and automation are right-sized.

This new version of DCmodeler builds on 15 years of development and includes enhancements that:

-   Analyze SKU affinity to identify items that have order and velocity correlations
-   Built on a cloud-based architecture to support global collaboration across team members
-   Allow more granular data segmentation to support analysis by channel, customer segment, business unit, etc.
