The company was founded by timber framer Jeff Davis and custom home builder Rick Bascom back in 1987. The two realized they shared a common dream and that was to build quality and energy efficient timber frame homes. Rick, Jeff and a small crew began handcrafting timber frames in a barn on Rick's family farm in Brownsville, Vermont.
Over the years, the company's reputation grew and so did the demand for its timber frame homes. To accommodate the growing demand and staff, in 1997 the company built a 22,000 square foot design and manufacturing facility in Claremont, New Hampshire. Over the past decade, Davis Frame has built a 2,500 square foot timber frame model home as well as a 13,000 square foot LEED certified manufacturing facility to fabricate its panelized home system, Energy Smart Insulated Panel System, (eSIPS).
Davis Frame Company uses high-tech machinery to craft the timbers, including a computer-controlled automated cutting machine to precisely cut the majority of the timbers. The shop hand finishes the timbers by chiseling, waxing, chamfering and a tung oil finish is applied to the timbers.
The company offers its clients complete design services and full weather tight shell home packages. The weather tight shell package includes the timber frame, structural insulated panels (SIPs), panelized wall and roof panels, energy efficient windows and doors, siding and roofing.
Davis Frame Company consistently incorporates the latest technological advances in design and production, integrating more efficient building systems into home design, and embracing new materials and technologies. As part of the company's drive to deliver the highest quality possible in all aspects of design, it continually re-evaluates construction "best practices" to ensure that it is creating not only beautiful structures, but smarter, healthier and more efficient buildings. Today, there are hundreds of Davis Frame homes, additions and commercial projects across the country in 35 states as well as internationally.
The company's long term goal is to promote the advantages of building sustainable and high performance homes through passive solar design and quality and efficient material choices. With energy costs at an all time high, building sustainably is more important than ever.
