Engaging Course Prepares Financial Planners for Certification Exam

Feb. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- St. Louis – The University of Missouri–St. Louis offers an engaging Certified Financial Planner Exam Preparation course that fulfills educational requirements to sit for the certification examination. The 2012 cohort begins March 3, 2012, and ends May 13, 2013. UMSL’s experienced instructors guide students through five modules and a capstone review. After taking this UMSL prep course, an average of 78 percent of students pass the CFP certification exam, exceeding the national pass rate of 53 percent, and placing UMSL in the top-tier of exam preparations in the country.

CFP® certification is deemed the gold standard proof of expertise in the personal financial industry and distinguishes certified planners from their peers. UMSL’s exam prep course features the Certified Financial Planner–Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP-BOS) approval for the educational training, and is the only university in St. Louis with AACSB accreditation in both Business Administration and Accounting. The course uses the curriculum of the College for Financial Planning and covers all topics that the CFP-BOS requires.

This course is a prerequisite to success for those who want to differentiate themselves in the financial industry, such as accountants, CPAs, financial consultants and planners, HR professionals, insurance experts, bankers, trust officers, investment specialists, tax professionals, insurance advisers, benefit authorities, attorneys, and other individuals who deal in trusts, estates and other fiduciary matters.

Main courses of study include Financial Planning Process and Insurance, Investment Planning, Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits, Income Tax Planning, Estate Planning, and the Capstone: Financial Plan Development course. The program fee for all modules is $5,595. Individual modules can be attended for a fee of $995 each.
