Feb. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Since 1971, Premier Academy, Inc. has been dedicated to providing research-based, age appropriate educational instruction and developmental services to thousands of low-income children in metro Atlanta and will celebrate 40 years of service at their anniversary Legacy Gala taking place March 24th at The Loudermilk Center from 8pm - 12am. Individual and group tickets are available and proceeds benefit  the cost of providing tuition assistance to low-income children and other critical resources for families residing in Atlanta's most vulnerable and marginalized communities. http://www.premier-academy.org/event_40th_anniversary.html

A leader in their field, Premier Academy has removed barriers to quality education for at-risk children over the years and strengthened their families and the community.  Led by Cindra Taylor, Executive Director since 1996, she is responsible for the planning and daily administration of Premier Academy's two (2) childcare centers. Under her leadership all centers have achieved accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and have maintained this status for fifteen (15) years. Taylor states, "This year's 40th Anniversary Legacy Gala is about remembering Premier's mission that focuses on the development of the total child and ensuring a curriculum that builds lessons and activities that support the long-term impact on the educational and life outcomes for children in Georgia, particularly in metro-Atlanta."

The Legacy Gala will recognize the outstanding accomplishments in the areas of child and education advocacy with the Legacy Awards. Recipients include: Robin H. Ferst, Founder of the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy; Elaine P. Draeger, CEO and President of Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family Centers; and Pat Willis, Executive Director of VOICES for Georgia's Children. Premier Academy will present the "Trailblazer Award" to "King of Strings" Entertainer, Ken Ford, Founder of The Ken Ford Foundation, for his outstanding contributions to youth using music as a key component in a child's academic pathway. Taylor continues, "In honoring these individuals whose professional and personal standards and achievements serve as a model to others, Premier underscores the importance of educational access and achievement for all of Georgia's children."

Serving communities that various needs oftentimes outweigh the academy's ability to provide, Taylor reflects on the great support the Atlanta community continues to provide for their children.  "While I am most proud of the Premier's accomplishments during the last 40 years, our organization is constantly looking ahead to broaden the impact of our programming and services well into the future because far too many children are unprepared for academic success in Atlanta," shared Taylor.
