Valley Musica Concert Raises $3,000 for Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center.

Feb. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Three world renowned classical musicians performed a benefit concert on January 29, which raised nearly $3,000 for the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center at Hudson Valley Hospital Center (HVHC). Hosted by Valley Musica, a local non-profit organization encouraging music and arts in our community, the program featured works by Haydn, Brahms and Dvorák. Artists included violinist, Jesse Mills, pianist, Rieko Aizawa, and cellist Bonnie Hampton.

“I, as well as so many others in the area, have been touched by cancer” said Audrey Axin, Founder and Director of Valley Musica. “It was a great experience for us to share our musical talents, knowing the funds raised were for an exceptional cause. We are exciting to see even more changes ahead.”

“The support of local organizations, such as Valley Musica, is inspiring,” said Edward MacDonald, Chairman of the Board of Directors at HVHC. “With events like these, it is a great opportunity for everyone to work together and build awareness of health care services offered in our community.”

The Cancer Center houses The Ashikari Breast Center and Institute for Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery offering  world-renowned physicians in breast surgery and reconstruction and leading technology in women’s imaging.  Additional services include radiation and infusion therapy. The Center is the only facility in the region to offer tomotherapy, a state-of-the-art radiation therapy that precisely pinpoints cancerous cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissue. The center’s design, with adjoining conference and office space, encourages communication and clinical consultations between physicians.
