Pinterest Connects Individuals Through Their Common Interests

Feb. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- An online bulletin board is a great place to post or “PIN” your favorite ideas, recipes, style ideas, and anything else of interest.  Pinterest has created the perfect website for just that.  Although it cannot be used for professional gain, Pinterest offers people a way to connect with others who share your ideas and values by pinning them onto their online bulletin boards that can be personalized for each person’s unique tastes and interests.

Many have used Pinterest to help them plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and even to organize and find new recipes.  According to Pinterest, their intention is to connect individuals from across the world by Pinning their favorite things, such as books, decorating ideas, crafts, recipes, and much, much more.

To connect with others, you can LIKE their pins, and even REPIN them on your bulletin board.  While the website has a few guidelines, people are free to pin whatever they like.  Some of the guidelines include being nice when pinning about others’ comments and ideas, always noting a source or posting a link back to the original, and also avoiding content.  

Once a person has requested or received an invite to become a member, it will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for an account to become activated. Once this happens, the pinning jamboree can begin. The site will start out by suggesting people to follow as well as by offering up categories to choose from to begin curating “pinned” items.

Pinterest has found that if people post the original source along with the pin, it makes it much easier for others to find the original source, rather than conducting a Google search or blog search.  As Pinterest has just recently begun, they are still looking to work out the ‘bugs’ of how the website works and is laid out.  They are looking for feedback about what works and what does not work, in the opinion of the site’s loyal users.
