Friends for Life began in 1993 - then known as Citizens for Tempe Strays. Within two years our organization had a solid volunteer base, a dedicated board of directors, and was handling hundreds of adoptions per year. In 1996, after only three short years, Friends for Life was able to lease three buildings in downtown Gilbert - a place that animals call "home" until they find a family of their very own. Friends for Life Animal Rescue is dedicated to the homeless and stray animals living on the streets and in the deserts. These animals do not have an advocate and will likely suffer starvation, illness, or injury as they try to survive alone. Animals awaiting adoption have no time limit to find their adoptive homes; however, our goal is to find a permanent, lifetime, loving home for every animal in our care. Adopting a cat or dog from Friends for Life not only gives THAT animal a new lease on life, but also allows our volunteers to rescue ANOTHER cat or dog that may not have had a tomorrow. Friends for Life does not euthanize animals as a means of population control or convenience.
Pete and Mac's Pet Resort in Gilbert will continue to accept supplies donations for Friends for Life Animal Rescue through the Yappy Hour on Wednesday. “Please join us at Pete and Mac’s Recreational Resort for Pets in Gilbert, on February 15th from 4 – 7pm, for a glass of wine, hors d’oeuvres and a chance to win some great prizes.” Canine attendees will enjoy special pet friendly treats and canine companionship. A $5 donation at the door gets you, and your dog, into the party. Raffle tickets are available now; you don’t have to be present to win. All donations at the door and raffle ticket sales go to Friends for Life. Your very small donation can, and will, save pets’ lives. And socialization is good for your dog, and for you.
To sweeten the deal, Pete and Mac’s will donate $5 to Friends for Life from every coupon book sold at the Yappy Hour and is offering unadvertised deals on boarding, grooming, dog day care and training services for party attendees.
