As the Graduate String Quartet-in-Residence at the Yale School of Music, the Linden String Quartet is the gold medalist and grand-prize winner of both the 2009 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and the 2010 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition. Other awards include first prize at the Sixth Hugo Kauder International Competition and the Coleman-Barstow prize at the 2009 Coleman National Chamber Ensemble Competition.
Sarah McElravy (violin), Catherine Cosbey (violin), Eric Wong (viola), and Felix Umansky (cello) as a quartet previously served both as apprentice to the Cavani String Quartet at the Cleveland Institute of Music and as Quartet-in-Residence of the Canton Symphony Orchestra. In summer 2010, Linden was a resident artist at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival in the Berkshires and participated in chamber music festivals in Banff, Alberta and Stanford, California. Laura McDowell of Classical Voice North Carolina, an online arts journal, described a recent concert featuring Linden as, “a memorable performance … of the highest musical caliber.”
Linden’s BIG ARTS performance will include Schubert’s Quartettsatz in C minor, D. 703; Ravel’s Quartet in F major; Murphy’s Dark Energy; and Beethoven’s Quartet in C minor, Op. 18, No. 4.
Linden String Quartet performance supported by Grand Patron Sponsor Patricia & Davis Thurber and Supporter Family of Joe Boscov.
